Not authorized by Harley-Davidson Inc.. As much as I would love to be affiliated with Harley-Davidson Inc., the only affiliation I have is by owning a 75 FLH and a 96 XLH1200, and running some websites about their motorcycles, the people who ride them, and trying to sell some used American made motorcycles and products of interest to bikers.. Personally, I think it would be great to own a Harley-Davidson dealership, but I respect that it requires a lot of work and money to own and operate one. Consider the quality of their products. The company doesn’t let just any old bikers come along and open up a dealership, and that’s a good thing. Many companies sacrifice their long-term image for short-term profits by introducing lower quality products into the marketplace, but Harley-Davidson, Inc seems to do its’ best to avoid that temptation. The company has a terrific website and is doing wonderful on their own without any additional help by this little web designer who would rather be riding. I don’t think it is an exaggeration to say there are gazillions of other websites out there for bikers and motorcycle enthusiasts and Harley-Davidson brand loyalists. That begs the question of purpose for why this website. The honest answer is that I dream of opening an honest to goodness full service Harley-Davidson dealership with a complete line of authorized Harley-Davidson products in Wake Forest, North Carolina 27587. What a gorgeous dealership it would be! It would be set up something like the awesome Ray Price dealership which is many miles away in the south part of Raleigh, NC. Ray has done such an incredible job of building that dealership. Is it likely the dream could come true? Unfortunately, I have to look at the reality of the siutation. Just to get started would require an enormous investment. I could put my entire life savings into it and still come up hundreds of thousands of dollars short. The only way to do it would require other investors. Given that I don’t have a dozen investors, does the dream necessarily have to end? Maybe. Maybe not. Maybe the dream just needs to be changed a bit. Maybe I would have to settle for a scaled down version of the dream. Huh? Would the dream sacrifice quality? Would it be a lesser dream? If so, I wouldn’t even consider it further. With reality thrown into the mix, The Dream does not have to end. Instead, the opposite happens. It starts to take more shape, because I realize some pieces of the enormous effort which would be required to make my dream of owning an authorized Harley-Davidson dealership happen.
