Brand Protection

This section will take a look at the copy cat, designer issues and infringement lawsuits regarding Harley-Davidson, Inc. It’s the company everyone wants to be associated with. Infirngement issues should be important issues for any Harely dealer wanna-be’s like me. I suspect the protection of the brand names, logos, trademarks, patent and copyrights is an issue of paramount importance to the future of the company.

One important case was Harley-Davidson, Inc vs RONALD GROTTANELLI, doing business as The Hog Farm. The case determined the fate of the bar and shield logo and the use of the word HOG as applied to motorcycles. Read more about ti here.

Another link to check out is a filing with the Securities and exchange commission, in which Harley-Davidson, Inc. discusses licensing, patents, trademarks.

Dealers and movie producers have also found out that the company is serious about not wanting their image tarnished on the big screen and lesser videos. Gang Bang Girl #20, produced by Anabolic Video Productions showed scenes at a dealership that later ended up in a lawsuit against Anabolic. The dealer was reprimanded by the company for allowing the filming. For more information, use your favorite seach engine to search for some of the key words mentioned.

The suit against EVO-lution Inc, a motorcycle dealership in Spokane, that had many items and displays which the company objected to is also of interest. Click ⊂here to see an article from the Spokane Journal of Business.

More later.
